Wellbeing & inclusivity

At Platon School every child is seen, supported and challenged as an individual.

From the early years to adolescence, we create a safe and caring environment where different learning styles, abilities and needs are understood. Our school integrates social-emotional learning, mindfulness and pastoral care into daily life, supported by close collaboration between teachers, parents, specialists and the wider community, ensuring each learner thrives.

Student support and wellbeing services

Our students are supported by a dedicated team of psychologists and therapists offering personalised programmes, mindfulness training and counselling, nurturing resilience, belonging and growth at every stage.

Student Support Team (SST)

The Student Support Team consists of school psychologists, a speech therapist and special education therapists who work collaboratively to support students with a wide range of needs.

The team’s primary role is to evaluate and assess students, design and implement tailored intervention programmes and advise teachers on differentiated instructional strategies.

When appropriate, the team collaborates with external public or private services to ensure that every learner can fully participate in school life, adapt within the educational process and feel a strong sense of belonging within the school community.

Personalised pathways

Once a student’s needs are understood, the school psychologists and specialist therapists work with teachers and parents to agree on the most appropriate support. This may include individualised programmes, in-class support, adapted assessments and regular counselling for students and families, as well as collaboratively designed differentiated learning materials.

Teachers and support staff receive ongoing training, while learners are encouraged to take an active role in understanding and meeting their own needs. The goal is simple: help every child grow academically, socially and emotionally, at their own pace and in their own way.

Mindfulness Programme

In the final two years of our Greek High School, students take part in a dedicated Mindfulness Programme designed to support their mental readiness for the pressures of university entry examinations, whether through the National system or the IB.

Through structured sessions held every fortnight, students develop practical tools, including breathing techniques and guided mental preparation, to build resilience and focus. These hour-long sessions equip students with lifelong strategies for managing stress, helping them approach high-stakes moments with confidence and calm.

Counselling Programme

Each educational level has dedicated psychologists who oversee student wellbeing through group interventions and individual meetings with students and teachers. As an integral part of the Student Support Team, our Counselling Programme provides a consistent, caring presence across every stage of school life. Psychologists guide teachers during weekly class meetings and lead the school's implementation of the Olweus Anti-Bullying Programme.

Annual questionnaires track the nature and frequency of bullying incidents, ensuring targeted and timely responses. This proactive approach has kept bullying rates at Platon School in the single digits, far below the national average of 30-40%.

My daily effort is to inspire, through my attitude, empathy and inclusion among all students. Every day, the necessary “connections” between school and family are cultivated so that students feel accepted and safe.

Inclusivity programme FAQs

Platon is a truly inclusive school. We embrace the individuality of every child - welcoming students of all abilities and backgrounds. We aim to provide a supportive environment so each child can thrive academically, emotionally and socially.

The Student Support Team includes school psychologists, a speech therapist, and special education therapists. They work together to help students succeed by assessing needs, creating support programs, and monitoring progress.

In-class individual support involves the presence of an adult (Support Teacher/Assistant) in the classroom to help a student with learning and socialization. The ultimate goal is for the student to gradually become independent, while the Support Teacher focuses solely on the assigned student and does not act as a general classroom aide.

Parents play an active role in their child’s education. They:

  • Request any arrangements or services needed for children with special education needs.
  • Provide all necessary information and documents.
  • Submit documentation for IBO accommodation requests.
  • Cooperate with the Student Support Team to support interventions at home.
