Our commitment to safeguarding

At Platon School, safeguarding is a shared commitment that underpins every aspect of school life.

Clear policies set out staff responsibilities, reporting and response, while a culture of vigilance ensures that any concern about a child’s welfare is taken seriously. Through strong on‑site security, structured anti‑bullying and peer support initiatives and age‑appropriate digital safety education, students learn and grow in a safe, caring environment.

Safeguarding policy

Safeguarding policy

At Platon School, we believe every student has the right to feel safe, protected and respected at all times. Our safeguarding policy sets out clear expectations for the behaviour of all adults in school, and defines how any concern is reported, recorded and followed up.

This consistent framework ensures that we act early, act together and always act in the best interests of the child.

Our security measures include:

Bullying Prevention and Intervention Programme

Platon School is the first school in Greece to implement the pioneering, research-based Olweus Bullying Prevention Programme, an internationally recognised framework that reduces aggression, prevents bullying and builds a safer, more positive school climate.

  • School-wide policy

    School-wide policy

Clear, consistent rules define what bullying is and how it is handled, so every incident is taken seriously and addressed in the same structured way across the school.

  • Whole-community involvement

    Whole-community involvement

Teachers, students, parents and staff are all actively engaged in the programme, sharing responsibility for protecting potential victims and helping perpetrators change their behaviour.

  • Education and awareness

Through lessons and the Student Peer Mediation Programme, pupils learn to recognise bullying, resolve conflicts through guided dialogue, build empathy and reach constructive, respectful solutions.

  • Monitoring and support

    Monitoring and support

Surveys and incident reports are used to spot patterns and track progress, while teachers and counsellors provide targeted interventions to restore a positive, respectful classroom climate.

  • Digital safety & SID

From Grade 3, students join digital safety seminars; from Grade 4 onwards, they learn to recognise online risks, protect themselves and act kindly on the internet, supported by Safer Internet Day (SID).
