At Platon School, specialist academies in basketball, swimming, dance and karate allow students to develop their talents and explore new interests.
Guided by expert coaches, they progress from foundational skills to competitive pathways, building confidence, teamwork and a healthy balance between learning, sport and enjoyment.
Structured pathways
Learners develop their skills through specialist academies from Early Years onwards, open to both enrolled and external participants, supporting progression and a deeper engagement with sport.
Expert coaches
Students train with specialist coaches who follow internationally recognised standards including RAD, ISTD and modern sports science, turning every session into measurable progress in skill and character.
Basketball Academy
Players develop technique, game sense and resilience within Platon BC teams, founded in 1991, where discipline, fair play and love for the game grow alongside every training session.
Swimming Academy
Swimmers advance from first splashes to pre-competitive training across five structured levels, guided by expert coaches in renovated facilities open to children and adults alike.
Dance Academy
Dancers grow through seven specialist programmes - from Ballet and Modern to Hip Hop and Zumba - following RAD and ISTD syllabi, building technique, expression and confidence at every level.
Karate Academy
Karate students progress through four age-based pathways, from playful Early Years sessions to competitive kumite, building discipline, self-control and resilience in body and mind.
Platon BC Basketball Academy is where sport becomes a life lesson. Founded in 1991, it uses basketball as a powerful tool for growth, aligned with Platon School’s belief that sports build character and support development.
Led by specialised coaches, students learn to play with joy, respect and purpose, discovering how the game shapes character, friendships and wellbeing. Beyond skills and competition, they develop teamwork, discipline, resilience and leadership, building healthy bodies, confident minds and strong values.
Our students are introduced to swimming from preschool, gradually becoming confident, safe and skilled in the water. Building on this foundation, the Swimming Academy opens our renovated facilities and structured programmes to a wider community of children and adults who wish to benefit from water-based exercise.
Expert coaches follow modern international standards so students progress step by step, from first splashes to pre‑competitive training. Children and adults discover how swimming boosts physical and mental wellbeing, linking healthy bodies with focus, balance and everyday confidence.
Our programmes are designed so every swimmer can find the right starting point and grow with confidence. Each level builds skills step by step under the guidance of expert coaches.
For more confident swimmers and adults, our advanced pathways focus on refining technique, building stamina and preparing for competition.
At Platon School’s Karate Academy, children explore karate as both a martial art and a path of character development. Training goes beyond technique to cultivate discipline, self-control and respect, while strengthening the body and mind.
Through age-appropriate, engaging sessions, learners build confidence, focus and resilience, discovering how the way of the empty hand supports self-control, self-defence and wellbeing in everyday life.
Our programmes are organised by age and experience, so each student can train safely, progress steadily and enjoy karate at the right level of challenge.
For more experienced students, our advanced pathways focus on deepening technical skills, strengthening character and introducing competitive opportunities.
At Platon School’s Dance Academy, children, teenagers and adults experience dance as both an art form and a powerful way to express who they are. Our programmes combine creative movement with solid technical foundations, so that every learner can grow safely, enjoyably and with purpose.
Music & movement
Children explore rhythm, music and free movement from Early Years, building memory, motor skills and creativity through joyful, structured play.
Modern dance
Students follow the globally recognised ISTD syllabus, developing technique, flexibility and musicality from first steps to advanced grades.
Ballet
Learners follow the world-leading RAD syllabus, building elegance, stamina and technical skill through age-appropriate, internationally certified training.
Musical theatre
Adults blend acting, singing and dance inspired by iconic productions - from Grease to The Lion King - in a bold, expressive and supportive environment.
Hip-hop
Dancers discover rhythm, individual style and confidence through one of the world's most influential street-dance forms, rooted in culture and self-expression.
Zumba
Children boost cardiovascular health, posture and coordination through high-energy choreographies that turn every session into an uplifting celebration of movement.
Music and movement is a creative programme that uses music, rhythm and free movement to support every aspect of children’s development.
From Early Years, pupils exercise and have fun while improving their physical health, exploring how to express themselves through their bodies and receiving rich visual and auditory stimuli.
Activities are designed to strengthen memory and fine motor skills, nurture a love of music and movement, boost creativity and improvisation. Children learn to take initiative and act responsibly, expand their imagination, work together in group activities and develop a sense of rhythm and pulse in both movement and speech.
Modern dance at Platon School develops technique, flexibility and musicality across a variety of musical styles. From the early years of their school journey, the programme is carefully designed to support both students who dream of a future professional path in dance and those who simply want to express themselves and enjoy the art of movement.
Classes follow the internationally recognised Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) syllabus, used by thousands of member schools worldwide.
This ensures a structured, up‑to‑date approach that reflects artistic and social trends in movement, with tried‑and‑tested teaching standards and techniques that help dancers progress safely and consistently through each grade.
Students follow the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus, a world‑leading system in classical dance education designed with great care for children’s developmental stages.
From the early years, learners develop discipline, stamina, elegance, grace and impressive technical skills. Through stories, music and carefully structured exercises, they also experience the expressiveness, magic and emotion typical of the ballet.
The RAD framework ensures that each step of their journey is age‑appropriate, safe and aligned with international best practice.
Our Musical Theatre classes invite adults to explore a genre that blends acting, singing and dance to bring stories to life. Inspired by iconic West End and Broadway productions, participants experiment with material from classics such as Grease, The Wizard of Oz, Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King and Mamma Mia.
Sessions offer complete creative freedom and the chance to use every expressive tool, including voice, movement and emotion, in a supportive environment. Adults discover new abilities, have fun and build confidence on stage and in everyday life, whether they are complete beginners or returning to a long‑standing interest in performance.
Hip-hop introduces dancers to a dynamic street‑dance style shaped by the music and culture of the 1960s and beyond. With roots in funk and earlier street styles, Hip Hop has grown from a social movement into one of the most influential dance forms worldwide.
In class, students explore rhythm, groove and individual style, learning how music drives movement and how new tracks continually inspire new steps. They gain coordination, confidence and a strong sense of personal expression, while working in groups that encourage teamwork and respect.
Zumba is a high‑energy blend of dance and fitness that turns exercise into a party. Suitable for all levels, our kids’ Zumba sessions use upbeat music and varied choreographies to keep every class fresh and motivating.
Children move continuously, boosting cardiovascular health, strengthening core muscles and improving posture, all while having fun. The aim is simple - move with the music and enjoy yourself. Students naturally develop coordination, rhythm and body awareness, leaving each class feeling energised and uplifted.
Our academies are led by specialist coaches who combine deep technical expertise with Platon School’s educational ethos. They bring decades of experience in competitive sport and teaching, creating a training culture that is both demanding and encouraging.
They model discipline, teamwork and respect, helping learners of all ages build strong skills, confidence and character.
